Les fleurs de
Marie
Hi ! My name is Marie-Eve, people call me Marie, I ve been growing flowers in my backyard since 2020. I dedicated a 10 000 square foot space in my backyard, in Wakefield, Québec, Canada to grow cut flowers. Speciality cut flowers are natural beautiful phenomenons that have to be shared with others. It would be selfish to keep all this beauty for myself. With all the time spent, personal investments, quality and quantity of stems I grow and sell as an agricultural entrepreneur, I lovingly call my back yard a micro flower farm. Post harvest handling of the flowers is my absolute favorite activity of all times and I cant wait to make beautiful bouquets or any other fresh flower related arrangements for you to enjoy as long as possible.
Growing flowers for cutting
I started this fun adventure for curiosity, I was wondering how on earth, is earth producing so much beauty with textures, colors and odors? Some flowers are so beautiful, they don't look real , they look like something that came out of someones imagination. When I lived in Germany, peeking through europeen florists shop windows was always a treat for me. I had envy for the people working with beauty and, as a ten year old, visiting the Keukenhof gardens in the Netherlands confirmed my desire to own a flower garden one day . While I was playing in the fields of german sunflowers next to my house a flower seed planted itself in my flower heart. And here I am, that seed finally germinated into a love and passion for flowers including the research about their growth, care and etc.... Having the chance to touch those beauties, play and compose with them was something I always wanted to do.Speciality cut flowers are not the flowers you see everyday, they often have an airy , flowy country feel, they can also be the major focal in arrangements. I love mixing them with more traditional, seasonal flowers like lilies, delphiniums, dahlias, hydrangea, peonies or zinnias. The look is usually eye-catching and unique.
About My flower farm
The first garden I built , summer 2020, was 350 square foot and flowers were growing nicely . I lived in the city, in Aylmer, Gatineau and started selling seedlings and some bouquets to neigbours and friends in 2021. It was satisfying but when my best companion, my dog, Ashley passed, I decided to move in the country on a bigger property to built a bigger garden in her honnor. Ashley loved flowers, she was always putting her nose in my dahlias while wagging her tale and stepping on all the other plants with her big great dane paws . I moved to Wakefield, Quebec winter 2023 and I now have a 10 000 sqf small flower farm.
